Snow Leopard Update Issue
February 3, 2012 – OIT has recently been made aware of an issue with a security patch from Apple for iMacs running Snow Leopard. Please read the article below for further information.
If you are running any of the programs listed in the article, please be aware that applying this update could cause printing errors, glitches, and crashes when quitting an application.
Office for Mac on MacOS 10.7 (Lion)
On Office for Mac on MacOS 10.7 (Lion), Communicator crashes when you send an IM or start an audio/visual call. Microsoft will resolve this issue in an upcoming update. Another known issue is that Mac 2004 will not run on Lion. Other known issues are listed in the Microsoft knowledgebase article at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2586538.
OS X 10.6.8 Update Causes Network Printers to Pause
The new Mac update breaks network printing. When you try to print, you will see your printer go to pause and hold the print job. Deleting the printer and re-adding does not work. Contact the IT Service Desk at (205) 348-5555 or itsd@ua.edu for the fix file. Unzip the file and run the package. Then run disk utilities and repair permissions. You may have to delete and re-add the printer.
IE 9 Incompatible with Release 3.2 of TideBytes
June 28, 2011 – Version 9 of Internet Explorer is not supported with the new release 3.2 of TIDEbytes. IE9 is expected to be supported in the 4th quarter. If you have questions, call the IT Service Desk at (205) 348-5555.
SPSS 19 Startup Issue
June 2, 2011 – If you experience an error while launching SPSS 19 (most often for the first time after installation) regarding a “side-by-side” configuration, or “application not configured correctly” message, please try the following steps to remedy the issue.
1. One possible cause of this problem is that the Microsoft Visual C++ redistributables the application requires did not execute and install properly during installation of the Statistics application. You can run them manually post-installation from here:
C:\Program Files\IBM\SPSS\Statistics\19\VC8\Vcredist_x86.exe (run this one first)
C:\Program Files\IBM\SPSS\Statistics\19\VC9\Vcredist_x86.exe

Office 2010 Known Compatibility Issues
- Call Pilot is not compatible with Outlook 2010.
- The toolbar for Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 does not work correctly Word and Excel 2010. However, you can create a PDF file by selecting Adobe Acrobat as your printer when using the File-Print function.
Adobe Pro X Does Not Support ADBC
March 10, 2011 -The newest version of Adobe Professional, Adobe Pro X, has dropped the feature ADBC, a JavaScript Function that makes a connection to databases. This was the only significant issue found during testing of Adobe Pro X.
