Internet2® Middleware

With such advancements in research and educational collaboration, the challenge of getting different application and network environments to work together gets more complex—that is why Internet2 has the Middleware Initiative.  Its mission is to promote interoperability in identity and access management.  In this effort, it works to promote and develop different tools such as Shibboleth for federated single sign-on, Grouper for access management, and COmanage for identity management.  With the Middleware Initiative, Internet2 strives to provide simple yet secure ways for collaboration.
