The University of Alabama’s Office of Information Technology (OIT) is implementing a new login notice on all university-owned Windows machines starting January 27. Once a user logs in, a new page will appear with a message and an option to click “okay.” Once clicked, the user will have access to their machine.
The message is as follows:
This computer system is the property of The University of Alabama. It is for authorized use only. By using this system, all users acknowledge notice of and agree to comply with The University’s Terms of Use of Technology Resources. Unauthorized or improper use of this system may result in revoked or suspended access privileges, administrative disciplinary action, civil charges/criminal penalties, or other sanctions. By continuing to use this system, you indicate your awareness of and consent to these terms and conditions of use.
The notice will remind users that these systems are the property of the University and are intended for authorized use only. It outlines the importance of adhering to The University’s Terms of Use of Technology Resources and informs users of the potential consequences of unauthorized or improper use.
Mac users may notice the new message directly on their login screen. By logging in, users acknowledge their awareness of and consent to these terms and conditions.
This update reinforces the University’s commitment to ensuring secure and compliant use of its technology resources.
