McAfee security offers simple and effective virus protection to help UA students, faculty and staff protect data and identity across connected devices. All computers should have an antivirus software, like McAfee, installed.

McAfee customer support is available to UA students, faculty and staff on McAfee’s service website.

University-Owned Machines

Contact the technical support group for your area. If your technical support is provided by OIT, please send your request to the IT Service Desk.

Personal Machines

  1. PC:  Visit www.mcafee.com/win/ua, Mac:  Visit www.mcafee.com/mac/ua
  2. Select your Country/Language.
  3. Enter required code.
  4. Enter your student/faculty email address.
  5. Click Get Email.
  6. You will then receive a message to check your email for a download link.
  7. Visit your Crimson or UA email, and open the email from subscriptions@mcafee.com.
  8. Click the link to redeem your product.
  9. Once you click, you will be taken to a redemption page. The product key should auto-populate. Enter your Crimson or UA email address and click “Submit”.
  10. You will be asked to log in to your existing McAfee account or create a new one by clicking “Register Now”. Follow the prompts for either option.
  11. Once logged in, you will receive a “Download Now” prompt. Click “Download Now” to download the product to your machine.

McAfee is available at no cost for personal and University owned machines.

Licensing Information

This software is licensed for use on both personal and University-owned machines and devices.

The University has an academic site license which provides licensing for all faculty, staff and students on University and personal machines as well as computer labs.
