Minitab is a data analysis and graphical data presentation product. It can perform a variety of data analysis and presentation functions, including statistical analyses and graphical presentation of data. Product details and capabilities can be found on the Minitab website.

Minitab is provided to UA faculty and students by the College of Engineering and Culverhouse College of Business.

Minitab is now available in a web app version and a desktop application.

The web app only works with Chrome or Edge internet browsers.

Mac users can only use the web version of Minitab.

Faculty Students

Request a Minitab License

  1. Visit https://myapps.microsoft.com/bama365.onmicrosoft.com
  2. Log in with your myBama email address (Students: myBamausername@crimson.ua.edu, Faculty: myBamausername@ua.edu). Click “Next”.
  3. Sign In with your myBama password.
  4. Authenticate with Duo.
  5. Once logged in, users will see a grid of available apps.
  6. Click the ellipses (…) at top right, then click “Request New Apps”.
  7. Under Suggested Apps, users will see Minitab, click the blue “Add” button.
  8. Click “Add” again.
  9. Click “OK”.
  10. At this point your request for a Minitab license has been received. When a Minitab license has been applied to your account, you’ll receive an email with further instructions. Expected wait time could be up to 40 minutes for the license to be applied.

Access Minitab

After requesting an account, users may download or use the web app version of Minitab. Visit https://app.minitab.com. Sign in with myBama email address (Students: myBamausername@crimson.ua.edu, Faculty: myBamausername@ua.edu) and myBama password. Authenticate with Duo. Users will then see the option to download Minitab or use the web app.

Download Minitab

  1. After logging in https://app.minitab.com/, Select “Download Minitab”.
  2. Once the download has complete, open the application.
  3. Click “Activate”.
  4. For authentication method, select Sign In, click “Next”.
  5. Select “Finish”.
  6. Restart your machine when prompted to complete the install.
  7. When opening the desktop application, you will be prompted to login. Log in with your myBama email address and myBama password. Authenticate with Duo and you will be ready to use Minitab!

Eligibility and Cost

This software is licensed for use on both personal and University-owned machines and devices.

Licensing Information

The University maintains an academic site license agreement.  This software is limited to academic use. The license period runs from January 1 through December 31 of each year.
