Project Expectations

Project managers provide successful planning, monitoring, and execution of a project.

Expectations for the Project Management Office

Projects with a dedicated project manager tend to have more successful outcomes, so PMO assigns a project manager to each request. Our project managers are skilled at concurrently maintaining and prioritizing multiple IT projects. They serve as your main point of contact, in addition to all the necessary project resources.

Once a project manager is assigned to your project, they will reach out to you via email to begin the PMO process. Your project manager will communicate with you about your project with routine meetings, check ins, and status updates.

A project manager’s role includes, but is not limited to:

  • Improved project planning and risk reduction.
  • Timely project completion and adherence to budgets for projects including third-part participation.
  • Effective resolution with questions, concerns, and troubleshooting throughout the life cycle of a project.
  • Enhanced stakeholder satisfaction and engagement.
  • Higher quality deliverables and reduced rework.
  • Better utilization of resources.
  • Facilitates discussions amongst stakeholders & provides routine communication/follow-ups until project is complete.
  • Brings awareness of UA compliance policies, standards, & guidelines potentially related to the project.

From the beginning of a project to the completion of a project, OIT project managers provide project management best practices, clear communication, and excellent support throughout the duration of a project to ensure that you are satisfied with the end result.

A requestor’s role includes, but is not limited to:

  • Defining the scope of the project in its entirety & identifying non-IT resources required.
  • Timely responses to communication efforts.
  • Properly vetting the project with you, your department and your supervisor.
  • Testing and approving the project work for production.
  • Requesting & committing to realistic timelines and project completion dates.

Customers hold the key to the necessary information needed to make the project a success. Discussing with your project manager the immediate goals of your project, as well as the overarching end goal, helps to coordinate project work appropriately.
