The VMware Academic Program provides programs access to virtualization technology and resources for teaching and research.VMware Academic Program includes the following elements:
Software is provided by individual colleges. Faculty and students in the College of Engineering or College of Arts and Sciences should check with their department for access to this program.
This software is available to students and faculty which includes students taking STEM courses or conducting non-commercial research as well as faculty members teaching STEM courses or conducting non-commercial research.
This software is licensed for use on both personal and University-owned machines and devices.
Licenses acquired through the VMware Academic Program are for instructional, non-commercial research and personal use only. Software cannot be used for purposes associated with operating the University, such as administrative or infrastructure purposes (i.e. those purpose not intended as instructional or research).
vSphere licenses provided under this program may not be used for desktop virtualization. Students receiving licenses through a qualifying course or research project may use the licenses after the course or project is concluded. Licenses are 365-day evaluation licenses that require a one-time, annual download.
