Center for Instructional Technology

The Center for Instructional Technology (CIT) provides: support and consultation services for faculty using instructional technology tools such as eLearning (Blackboard Vista), Tegrity lecture, Turning Technologies clickers, Turnitin, and Wimba; creative services including video production, photography, and graphic design; and design, maintenance and support of a variety of audio/visual resources across campus such as digital signage, public address systems, and multimedia classrooms.  CIT is made up of the Faculty Resource Center, Audio/Visual Solutions, and Multimedia Services.

Faculty Resource Center

The Faculty Resource Center (FRC) mission is to facilitate the integration of instructional technology into teaching and learning. To support this mission, the FRC provides professional development, design assistance, and imaging services to UA faculty.

The faculty development staff helps faculty learn about technology available campus-wide through both scheduled workshops and online guides and resources. The design and imaging staff members can help faculty create photographs, diagrams, icons, and other images.

Faculty can consult with FRC staff about ways to effectively use instructional technology or emerging technologies such as social networking. Contact the FRC at (205) 348-3532 or email frc@ua.edu.

Audio/Visual Solutions

OIT Audio/Visual Solutions provides support, consultation, design, installation, operation, and maintenance of a variety of audio/visual resources, including media-enabled classrooms and conference rooms, digital signage, and public address systems for events and emergency announcements. Audio/Visual Solutions also has portable equipment available for short-term rental.

Multimedia Services

OIT Multimedia Services offers fee-based custom Web development services to University departments, groups, and programs. Services include Web site architecture, Web content development, Web design and production, database development, flash and video production, photography, custom application development, and streaming media services.
