On Tuesday, August 12, 2025, we will be deploying Zscaler Internet Access (ZIA) back to OIT user devices.
What to Expect:
If you recall using ZIA in the past, the user experience remains unchanged.
- Once ZIA is installed on your machine, you will be prompted to accept the University Terms of Use.

- Log in using your full UA email address (e.g., username@ua.edu) and your UA password. That’s it!

Optional: You may verify the status of the Zscaler Client Connector (ZCC) to ensure it is communicating properly. The icon will be in your system tray (bottom right for PC’s and top right for Macs).
In the Internet Security tab, you should see a green ON.

Why ZIA?
Zscaler helps protect our network and users by securely routing internet traffic through cloud-based security services. A couple of benefits include:
- Always-On Protection: ZIA provides consistent security whether you’re on campus, working remotely, or traveling.
- Threat Prevention: It blocks malicious websites, phishing attempts, and other internet-based threats before they reach your device.
If you have any questions or concerns before the Aug 12 deployment, please reach out to Jason Carmack (jvcarmack@ua.edu).
