On January 26, OIT will implement Valimail, a new tool intended to improve the quality of email delivery for UA.edu email accounts by filtering out unauthorized senders and unsupported bulk tools. By identifying and authorizing legitimate email traffic coming from UA.edu, this tool will protect our domain from phishing and spoofing, and greatly reduce the volume of fraudulent emails by ensuring only authenticated messages from UA.edu reach recipients. By preventing unauthorized spoofing and phishing using the UA.edu domain, recipients can be confident that emails from UA.edu accounts are legitimate and safe.
OIT has worked to identify legitimate senders and email marketing platforms that are authorized to send email on behalf of UA.edu. Those senders and platforms are “whitelisted” to ensure ongoing smooth delivery to recipients. Once Valimail is live, only email traffic that is authorized by Valimail will be delivered. If you observe any failed deliveries of legitimate emails sent through email platforms to external users, please get in touch with itsd@ua.edu to report your issues. OIT will continue to work to ensure that only legitimate email from UA.edu senders is delivered.
