Upcoming Changes to University Login Experience

The Office of Information Technology (OIT) is transitioning The University of Alabama to a new single sign-on (SSO) provider: Okta. This effort will consolidate all university login experiences into one secure, consistent system.

Phase 1 of this project focuses on changes to how users sign in to university systems. The first place you will notice this update is when logging into myBama, beginning May 10, 2026. Over time, additional University applications and webpages will move to Okta as their login provider.

the new login screen for myBama, and ultimately every UA application and webpage. It displays a background of the UA Student Center with a white box centered on the page with a place to put username, keep me signed in, and next. This page also has help, create a password, and request Duo passcodes buttons.

As part of this transition, the login page will have a new look and feel. This change is expected and does not indicate an issue with your account or the service. Please do not be alarmed if the login experience looks different than what you are used to.

This work is part of a broader identity and access management project. By September 14, all students, faculty, and staff will complete their transition from Duo to Okta Verify for multi-factor authentication. OIT will provide additional guidance and reminders as that date approaches.

No action is required at this time. OIT will continue to share updates as new phases of the project are implemented.

If you have questions or experience issues logging in, please contact the OIT Service Desk at itsd@ua.edu or 205-348-5555.
