Software Update: Box Changes Effective July 30 (Provisioning and Sign On)

Starting July 30, Box accounts will no longer be automatically created for all University of Alabama students, faculty, and staff. Individuals can opt-in to receiving a Box account.

What’s Not Changing
If you already have a Box license, you will not be impacted by the provisioning change. There is no need to request an account. Please see the login information change below.

What’s New
On July 30, an opt-in webpage will go live on oit.ua.edu/software/box. Any student, faculty, or staff member who needs a Box account can request one through this page, and an account will be created automatically upon form completion.

Login Changes:
OIT is also transitioning Box to a Microsoft login screen and will use your UA or Crimson email address instead of your MyBama login information. Starting August 28, individuals will now be signing in with your UA or crimson email address and account password using a Microsoft “Single Sign-On” login page. If you are logged into a Microsoft tool elsewhere, you will likely not need to log in due to the Single Sign-On capabilities.

Please keep the new opt-in and login processes in mind as the new school year approaches.
