Box is a cloud storage service available to UA students, faculty, and staff. Box is an easy-to-use, safe way to store and share files with colleagues at and outside of UA. Box can be used to store sensitive data, including HIPAA data as the University has a Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act Business Associate Agreement (HIPAA BAA) with Box to allow use for Protected Health Information. All Box servers are US-based.

Currently, Box offers unlimited storage to current UA students, faculty and staff. The maximum single file size to store on Box is 15GB. OIT does not recommend Box as an archive solution.

Box supports storage of most file types. Other file types can be stored in Teams or OneDrive. Box accounts cannot be applied to departmental accounts, only individual user accounts.

Box offers mobile apps to view, edit, create and share content on the go. To access your Box account, visit box.ua.edu. Visit our knowledge base for Box tips including how to add email aliases to your Box account.
