Box is a cloud storage service available to UA students, faculty, and staff. Box is an easy-to-use, safe way to store and share files with colleagues at and outside of UA. Box can be used to store sensitive data, including HIPAA data as the University has a Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act Business Associate Agreement (HIPAA BAA) with Box to allow use for Protected Health Information. All Box servers are US-based.
Currently, Box offers unlimited storage to current UA students, faculty and staff. The maximum single file size to store on Box is 15GB. OIT does not recommend Box as an archive solution.
Box supports storage of most file types. Other file types can be stored in Teams or OneDrive. Box accounts cannot be applied to departmental accounts, only individual user accounts.
Box offers mobile apps to view, edit, create and share content on the go. To access your Box account, visit box.ua.edu. Visit our knowledge base for Box tips including how to add email aliases to your Box account.
Login to UA BoxBox accounts are automatically created for all students, faculty and staff. Users may login to Box by visiting box.ua.edu. You will be redirected to a myBama login page for authentication, then back to Box. You may also login from the Tech tab of myBama. If you have trouble accessing Box, please contact the IT Service Desk.
Visit the link below to access your Box account. Log in with your myBama credentials. Box utilizes DUO two-factor authentication.
Login to BoxBox is available on a number of platforms including iOS, Android, and many more. Users will be able to login to those apps using any email address attached to their account. Simply search for Box in your app store.
Box Drive is a simple way to work with all of your files right from your desktop, taking up very little hard drive space. Open your Windows Explorer or Mac Finder to find every file you need, edit like you would any local file and save it automatically to the cloud. And, keep enterprise-grade security protecting everything you do. Download Box Drive at box.com.
Current students, faculty and staff are all eligible to use UA Box at no cost.
The service is not available to alumni or former employees. When a user is no longer an active student, faculty, or staff, they will be given the opportunity to transition their UA Box account to a personal Box account.
All Box accounts must belong to an individual student, faculty or staff member. Co-ownership of folders is possible in Box, and suggested for important departmental folders owned by an individual.
